Porto is a city rich in traditions, and its fairs reflect the soul and culture of Porto Alegre residents. Among the most emblematic are the Vandoma Fair, the Numismatics, Philately and Collectibles Fair, and the Bird Fair.
1. Vandoma Fair
Created in the 70s by young students who sold books and used clothes, the Vandoma Fair has become an icon of the city. It currently offers a wide range of products at attractive prices, such as crockery, clothing, furniture, books, records, electronic devices and crafts. It takes place every Saturday, from 8am to 1pm, on Avenida 25 de Abril.
2. Numismatics, Philately and Collecting Fair
For coin, stamp and collectible enthusiasts, this fair is a must-see. Located in Praça D. João I, it brings together specialized exhibitors and collectors looking for rare and valuable pieces. The fair takes place regularly, so it is advisable to check specific dates with the organizing entities.
3. Bird Fair
The Feira dos Passarinhos is a tradition rooted in Porto, dedicated to the sale of birds as pets, as well as articles for their accommodation, maintenance and breeding, including cages, feeders, drinkers, perches and food. Other species of pets can also be found, as long as prior authorization is obtained from the competent authorities. It takes place every Sunday, from 7am to 1pm, at Alameda das Fontainhas.
These fairs are more than just markets; They are spaces for coexistence where traditions are preserved and community ties are strengthened. Visiting each of them means immersing yourself in the essence of Porto and discovering treasures that reflect the city’s authenticity.
